Fireground Command (DC Frank Viscuso; KFD, co-author of Fireground Operational Guides)
It can be overwhelming for the individuals who find themselves in the driver's seat at a complex structure fire, especially considering the seemingly unlimited amount of information you have to recall and the numerous tactical considerations that need to be addressed. That's where the use of a well-crafted, user-friendly operational guide and tactical worksheet can become a vital tool for the fire officer. Based on the new text, Fireground Operational Guides, this program will introduce students to a universally accepted approach to managing an emergency incident. Deputy Chief Frank Viscuso (Kearny FD) will walk you through the 17 areas that must be addressed at every structure fire. He will also show how operational guides can assist you with developing SOP’s and organizing training evolutions.

Situational awareness (DC Michael Terpak, Jersey City FD; author of 3 fire service books)
Featured Speaker of the Day This seminar is a MUST for every firefighter, fire officer, and aspiring officer. Situational Awareness can be obtained through a consistent series of size-up cues that will ultimately lead to your overall success or failure at an emergency incident. This program will outline critical factors that enable firefighters to make important decisions, like "when to stay" or "when to go". Whether you are studying for a promotional exam or looking for real world techniques, attendees will be provided with valuable insight and proven methods from one of the country’s most respected fire officers.

Conducting an Effective Primary Search (Capt. Bryan Emenecker, Camden FD)
This presentation will cover the most effective ways of conducting a primary search and locating victims in dwelling fires. You will also learn the most likely areas where victims can be found given the time of day and type of occupancy, and the importance of coordinated operations on the fireground. Captain Bryan Emenecker has been a member of the fire service for 25 years, spending the last 18 with the Camden City Fire Dept, where he has worked in Ladder Co. 2, Rescue 1, and currently a Captain at Squad Co. 7. He is a NJ Level 2 fire instructor and a national Pro Board Fire instructor through the University of Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute. Bryan also is an instructor with Safety & Survival LLC.
